About Lifedesk online

For less than the price of a cup of coffee per month, per user, you can have your own Internet or intranet (in-house) Web site packed with information about wellness, safety, personal effectiveness, and work/life issues. Lifedesk is a Web site so interactive and effective that users come back to it again and again.

Lifedesk is the electronic culmination of ten years of research and content development from The WorkCare Group. This is the most complete self-care and work-care Web site available, and it can be customized to meet your organization's needs.

The Lifedesk Web site is divided into seven channels:

  1. Your Work provides information and support to promote productivity and personal effectiveness. WorkPulse™ calculates a user's Personal Effectiveness Index (PEI) in the areas of presenteeism (you may be "on the job" but are you really "in the job"?), energy, and interest. Designed as a daily self-assessment tool, it also provides a 30-day running report of one's PEI. Stressors that may contribute to a low PEI are identified, and links to related information and support are offered. Instant analysis...instant feedback! Also in "Your Work":
    • Work Tools provides pointers to help enhance job satisfaction and to promote job effectiveness and productivity.
    • Self-Care on the Job offers tips to improve work performance by taking better care of yourself.
    • Work Stress offers solutions about managing common work-related stressors on the job.
    • Your Benefits provides information and support about common employee benefits areas.
    • Healthy Traveler addresses concerns about safety and health while on the road.
    • Job Safety supports safe practices and behaviors on the job.
    • The Green Office promotes environmental awareness at work.
  2. Your Health is your personal health management program. HealthCourse™ uses an on-line health risk assessment (HRA), feedback links, and information designed to help you take charge of your health and well being. Included here are Healthy Approaches, on-line modules with prompts to targeted sections based on a user's readiness to change.
  3. Your Time addresses personal life topics such as childcare, eldercare, marital issues, financing, and retirement planning.
  4. Resources provides links to important resources such as the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association. Here you can also find a useful glossary of medical and insurance terms. This area can be customized to highlight your company's resources, and message boards can be created to allow users with common interests to communicate. This customized channel can also be used as a cross-marketing platform for EAP, Employee Benefits, Occupational Health & Safety, Work/Life Initiatives and other employee support services.
  5. Work & Life A PDF version of a recent issue of Work & Life newsletter is available for you to read.
  6. HealthQuizzes is a group of fun, interactive quizzes established to test the user's knowledge of over 100 health topics. Automatic scoring and a list of the correct answers help to educate as well as entertain.
  7. Discussion Forums allow users to post messages and share information and concerns about specific self-care and work-care topics.
